AREXVY Includes Both an Antigen and an Adjuvant1

RSVPreF3 Antigen + AS01E Adjuvant Suspension > AREXVY induces an immune response against RSVPreF3 that protects against LRTD caused by RSV.

LRTD=lower respiratory tract disease; RSV=respiratory syncytial virus; RSVPreF3=recombinant RSV glycoprotein F stabilized in pre-fusion conformation.

I think it's very important for people to understand it. There's really 2 components in this product. The first component is a respiratory syncytial virus PreF3 antigen. What that is, we have to remember within respiratory syncytial virus, there's a fusion protein that's responsible for binding to our cell membranes. Once it binds to our cell membranes, it's going to fuse with our cell membrane. And there's 3 subunits of that protein.

So, what this component of the vaccine actually is, is it's before the fusion. It's that F3 subunit antigen. So, it's the RSVPreF3 subunit antigen.

AREXVY also includes an adjuvant. And so, what we have here is, we have the AS01E adjuvant suspension. We have to remember that an adjuvant is a molecule that's going to stimulate the inflammatory response, and when you look at this adjuvant, this adjuvant is consistent with a mono phospholipid and a saponin purified from a plant extract.

So, we know when you look at these 2 components, you have the RSVPreF3 antigen and the AS01 adjuvant suspension, which are responsible for activating that immune response.

That's appropriate to help set the stage to have the army available to fight RSV when it's present.
